Weltweit verkauft sich die Konkurrenz aus dem Hause Nintendo meist deutlich besser als die Playstation Portable von Sony und trotzdem- oder gerade deshalb scheint man noch nicht an einen Nachfolger zu denken.

David Reeves von Sony sagte zu dem Thema, dass momentan keine PSP 2 in Arbeit sei: „No, there are currently no plans for a PSP2. I go to Tokyo quite a lot and no one has referred to it – I think they have their hands full at the moment.„.
